Scholars cite the decline of [[Central Dantria]] as the main reason for the New Dawn. By this time both Central Dantria and Land began to experience increased waves of nationalism, coupled with the loss of populations to the wealthy [[Western Dantria]]. Crossing [[Ouna]] was viewed as a way to reach Leykarya, a developed country that seemed to have had a somewhat mythical status in Dantria. Word quickly came back, however, that Leykarya was not overly welcoming: it was connected to the Continent by an isthmus that was fairly easy to control. Therefore, migrants quickly turned further to the east. They were, however, able to establish some trading with Leykarya.
