Gole Anashary

Gole Anashary /ʌnʌ'ʃʌrɪ/ was the founder and ruler of the Kingdom of Mamkoon. Born as Deiecood Nōrnoh (also transcribed as Deiecut Norna) in Tonaran, in his youth he joined a Kareden military regiment and took part in Prince Kol's campaigns in the north, including the Osa Nara and Xornerian campaigns.

He then became the leader of Mamkoon, overthrowing Prince Kol and changing his tarnarian name to the Jabi Anashary. Ruling the country for an extremely long period of 65 years, he made the Kingdom of Mamkoon into the second most influential country after Yammoe, defining the landscape of northern politics for decades to come.

He died in his eighties, leaving the country to his son, Gole Anashary II. Gole Anashary's death marked the beginning of Mamkoon's decline, as well as the decline of Yammoe's influence in the north of the Continent.

Early life

Not much is known about Deiecut's life in Tarnaria, because as a Kareden leader who was not a native Kareden, Deiecut was constantly distancing himself from his origins. Additionally, facts of his early life were not appropriate for the head of Mamkoon, the alleged paradise of Xaewoon.

His family was from Tonaran. They were not wealthy, but native to Tonaran and well regarded. An eager young man, Deiecut was able to secure a position as a soldier in the Tonaran army.

His father worked as a serviceman in one of the estates and was caught stealing. This became widely known primarily due to the fact that the thief was able to break out from the prison, in which he was held before what would probably have been a public beating. This affair brought shame upon the family of Norna. Deiecut lost his position in the army and was called "son of thief" by many of the locals. This prompted him to flee Tonaran.

He came to Ernele and took part in several local skirmishes as a swordsman, but, lacking his family's network, did not seem to be getting far in his military career.

When Prince Kol's army was passing through, he saw an opportunity to start anew and joined them.

Military career

He quickly rose through the ranks, mostly thanks to Prince Kol liking the young and eager tarnarian recruit. During this time he was injured several times, but kept demonstrating loyalty to Prince Kol, who soon made him commander of one of the Kareden armies. Deiecut then led a successful campaign against the United Municipalities of Loodon.

He then orchestrated a two-year campaign to the Makam River, demonstrating more the ability to manage experienced generals than being a strategist himself. However, his leadership was described as focused and a welcome change from Prince Kol's more meandering approach. Under his command, the Kareden overtook Osa Nara. Prince Kol occupied the former capital of Osa Nara Homidae and renamed it to Mamkoon City. He also promoted Deiecut to Jeenor, which was the highest Kareden military rank, and made Deiecut army leader.

Meanwhile, the state of Xornerian collapsed after nearly a decade of civil war, which Deiecut used as an opportunity to expand the country. His Xornerian campaign proved highly successful and expanded the borders of the country to the Kost Sea.

However, the success of his campaign depended on help from a group that turned out to be representatives of Yammoe: Xornerian was defended by a powerful superhero warrior Dorron, who had advanced telekinesis, which she used to stop arrows and other projectiles mid-flight and then forcibly drop them back onto the enemy, eviscerating whole armies. The Yammoe group found a way to murder Dorron right before a key battle in exchange for Deiecut's loyalty. It is widely believed that the price for help was also a promise to dethrone Prince Kol.

Ruler of Mamkoon

The success of the Xornerian campaign had strengthened Deiecut's influence among Prince Kol's generals. They also saw Deiecut as a more predictable figure, as opposed to the erratic and fickle style of Prince Kol.

Emboldened by his standing among the military and possibly by support from Puhntuss, Deiecut dethroned Prince Kol during a ceremony which Prince Kol thought was a celebration of the foundation of Mamkoon. Instead, his mission was announced to had been complete, as he did lead his people to the Mamkoon, and he was instead given an honorary and strictly religious role, with Deiecut taking the Jabi name of Prince Anashary.

Prince Kol tried to regain power, but was betrayed by his generals and executed by Anashary. Anashary then changed his title from Prince to Gole, therefore assuming absolute power.

Gole Anashary ruled Mamkoon for 65 years. Due to the theology, there was little reason to continue campaigning, although the fight for the island of Laur with Leykarya continued throughout his reign. This long stretch of peace allowed for the growth of economic prosperity. He was also able to appeal to the different peoples of his country, and, although the Kareden were treated as the real masters of the land, Anashary was able to tone down national conflicts, especially in the former Xornerian, by allowing free movement within Mamkoon, which, at least at the time, created opportunities for many.

He began losing grip on power by the end of his reign and struggled to strengthen the position of his eldest son, Gole Anashary II, who was highly unpopular with the military due to a number of failed campaigns against Darda. Eventually, he used the support of Yammoe once more. After his death, Yammoe turned Mamkoon into its puppet state which it ruled for the next 30 years, until withdrawing its support, mainly due to the invasions from Loodon and Leykarya.

Legacy

Gole Anashary was a popular leader, primarily due to the fame he had garnered with his military campaigns, as well as the Kingdom of Mamkoon becoming the heart of the light green stron of Xaewoon, which made Anashary not only an important political figure, but also a religious leader. His name became known throughout the whole of Tarnaria.

His founding of the Kingdom of Mamkoon also made him enemies, as the light green stron is prone to alternative readings of where the real Mamkoon lies. Later, the Overpol Expanse effectively tried to become the new homeland and invaded the Kingdom of Mamkoon.
