Kingdom of Mamkoon, frequently denoted as Mamkoon in Thonthal sources, /mæm'kuːn/ was a country which existed for almost 200 years in the 19th-20th CSR and was regarded as a Yammoe puppet state, although the actual relationship between the two countries was complicated.

Centered around the Makam river, Mamkoon connected the areas of Osa Nara and Xornerian. Mamkoon also had an exclave region near the Taverda river called Mamkoon Tre, which had three major cities: Mamkoon Tre, Mamkoon Ta and Mamkoon Tranala. This packet of the Mamkoon Kingdom became important due to its economic advantage of discovering the deposits of salt. The exact location of the Mamkoon salt mines had been kept a secret, and after the downfall of the region they have never been found, which spawned rumors and conspiracy theories that the mines might have never existed. The latter is corroborated by some historical data, suggesting it was a political ruse.

Mamkoon means "homeland" in Jabi and is one of the central tenets of the Xaewoon religion.

Demographics

Although Mamkoon was inhabited by different peoples, not the least of which were osanarians, Kareden is the name of the people who founded the country and were considered its true citizens.

The origins of the Kareden is not completely clear. Contemporaries implied that they came to the region from the south and were originally from Teamatian. But there is no documented evidence of this claim, and modern researchers suspect that that might have been loaded language to rationalize campaigns against them at the end of the 19th CSR. Based on their culture, language and traditions, they were clearly descendants of peoples from central Tarnaria. After the downfall of the kingdom, Kareden formally became part of Loodon, but most of them have migrated to the Overpol Region and northern Tarnaria. Their trace in history ends after that.

The Kingdom of Mamkoon was founded by Deiecut Norna, later known as Gole Anashary, who ruled the country for 65 years. From the start he was under the strong influence from Yammoe and was helped to power by support from Yammoe-aligned forces, but kept dismissing the importance of Yammoe's role in his success. By the end of his life he began losing his grip on power and agreed to publicly align Mamkoon's interests with Yammoe, in exchange for financial and military support. This quickly turned into an adversarial relationship, and after Anashary's death his sons were more or less turned into puppet leaders, while yielding actual power to the representatives of Yammoe.

Nevertheless, Yammoean influence had strengthened Mamkoon's standing in the region and provided its power with long-term potential. Over the course of the next 30 years, Mamkoon continued to expand its influence, both territorial and economic, but was then hit by three invasions in a short period of time - from the Overpol Expanse, from Loodon and then from Leykarya. This had weakened its influence and prompted Yammoe to withdraw its support due to a belief that Mamkoon is not worth the prolonged conflict. However, as soon as Yammoe withdrew, the conflict fizzled out and Mamkoon became Loodon territory within a year.

The downfall of Mamkoon ended the era of Yammoe domination in the north. Its subsequent attempts at regaining its influence over the region were swift failures, and by the end of the 1st CTR Yammoe lost all of its northern colonies.

Yammoe's strategic mistake became apparent already in several years when Loodon emerged not only as a regional power, but as a major player of the whole eastern Continent. This was further exacerbated by Western Dantria treating Loodon as such, when Yammoe's position was that Yammoe is the only power worth talking to.
