One of the larger youzi-speaking tribes, led by Daur Megeg (chief Megeg), was supported and organized by Yammoe to unite other tribes under Daur Megeg's flag, mostly through conquest. This united force was then used by Yammoe to target the sparsely populated state of Kartas and drive the settlers out. The resulting [[Great Turtle War]] lasted for a century and ended in the defeat of the Great Turtle and its dissemination throughout the region. A minority of the native population stayed in [[Afanyu]], a kingdom that was formed by the settlers after finally driving out the tribes with the help of [[Osa Nara]].
