Gaskal is [[bukk|Bukkean]] for "morning bird". At the time it was a widely shared reference to the Gyltoh stron (Morning song) from the [[Great Lore]], two lines of which read:

''Mulboh taver ayv y hlevenoh tolkun!''

The phrase is used to refer to someone who wakes up early and works hard. As the frantic construction of the new capital would not stop even during the night, the rhyme became associated with the city itself.
