Dormon family /dɑr'mɑn/ (also transcribed as Darman) was the last ruling family of Tonaran. Initially Kles Dormon was one of the Mōrtoh elders of the Oordar royal house, and ascended to power after the disappearance of Rodare. Instead of ruling herself, Kles installed her son, Davi Dormon as gole.

Davi Dormon proved to be a weak and ineffectual leader, and soon his wife, Glada Dormon, took over behind the scenes. She was quickly recognized as the real source of power and there was even a coup against her that she was able to uncover and violently suppress.

They had two children, Tos and Keek. They were fraternal twins (did not look alike) and were born three hours apart, with Tos being the eldest. When Glada stepped back, Tos succeeded her on the throne, which offended Keek, who had ambitions to become the next Gole and believed that the three hour difference did not matter in establishing seniority and order of succession.

Keek left Tonaran, vowing revenge. He was able to convince a number of warlords to the south of Heran to march on Tonaran under his command and support his bid for Gole. However, Tos was aware of these preparations and secured the support of Caldemarla, a powerful superhero warrior, whose ability was to make people want what he wanted. Caldemarla was able to create a bridge between the minds of the two brothers and had Tos plant a desire to give up on the siege in Keek's mind. This infuriated general Dulmaras, who bet his reputation and future on Keek. Dulmaras killed Keek in a fit of rage and proceeded with the siege.

Tos, on the other hand, overly relied on Caldemarla's help and refused to prepare for the siege, believing that if he were to change Keek's mind, the invasion simply would not happen. This allowed Dulmaras to occupy Tonaran with little resistance and proclaim himself the Gole of Tonaran.

However, when other generals learned of Keek's fate, they disputed Dulmaras's claim to the throne and laid their own siege to the fortress. Jeen Kadaaska was able to defeat Dulmaras and the competing army of Jeen Modolysk. Kadaaska then proceeded to execute the members of the remaining Dormon family, although it's not known whether he realized that the Gole, Tos Dormon, was not there.

Tos Dormon was able to flee by first posing as a prisoner in palace prison and then taking a boat through the underground river and escaping Tonaran to the north. He had Caldemarla accompany him, although because Keek was killed during the bridge between the brothers' minds, this seriously injured Caldemarla's mental capacity and he was no longer able to fend for himself or use his abilities.

Eventually, Tos reached Ydoh Rol and arranged for Caldemarla to get settled there to spend his last days. Tos himself settled in the town of Krus.
