Mortel Baoneek /mɑːr'tɛl bjuːniː/ (died 1914 FR) was a Tarnarian explorer and politician.

Originally from Gordohse, Mortel lived in Barudse and served as the commander of a number of expeditions to the far east. The goal of the expeditions was to provide Emperor Hun with intelligence regarding possible expansion. Mortel managed to reach the ocean, but the expedition did not discover any human settlements. It is after this that Emperor Hun felt it safe to claim the lands east of the Quoon river, although historians typically ignore this claim and paint Barud's borders strictly to the west of Quoon.

Mortel later joined Emperor Hun on his campaign on Asdoh. When the deserted Estonoh was occupied, Martel was installed as the King of Asdoh. He assembled a government, consisting of many of his expedition companions, and began issuing laws. Two weeks later a reinforced Asdoh army had recaptured the city. Martel and his court were swiftly executed.

Baoneek river has been named after him.
