The planet is situated in the Milky Way galaxy and is currently uninhabited, but at some point in the future will be exposed to Earth's biome through a short-lived colonization program. This will be discovered only centuries later and research will commence. Soon after, an unrelated accident will transport one of the researchers into our time. Not willing to give up their research, the scientist set themselves up for a lifelong project of documenting their knowledge of the far away world.
