Girag /'gɪrʌg/ is a class of non-sweet alcoholic beverages brewed from cereal grains. It's probably the oldest type of beverage on the Continent.

In the past girag was also referred to as pranl, but with the success of sweet pranl, created by the Udds family, sweet girags began to be called pranls, and non-sweet girags retained the girag moniker.

Girag is a famous drink and an important source of nutrition, although it is less famous than pranl and is generally considered to be a more formal beverage, customary at official functions. Some girags are especially bitter and acquiring a taste for them might be a sign of maturity.
