Oskodon /ɑːskɑː'dɑːn/ was a superhero warrior who led the Negy people at the end of the 18th and beginning of 19th CFR.

Abilities

Oskodon possessed extraordinary strength. He was able to lift up enormous boulders and hurl at the enemy. Several battles had been won by Negy in this manner, when Oskodon simply eviscerated the opposing army by thrusting several boulders at the advancing troops.

Becoming the Negy King

The Negy occupied the mountainous territory between Dol and the Negal mountain chain. They shared this territory with the Oaleed, although Oaleed preferred to live closer to the Quoon North river.

Many peoples and countries were put on the map thanks to a superhero warrior in their midst. Oskodon's abilities, coupled with ambition, allowed him to easily take power. As he helped defeat several of the Oaleed tribes in the area, his influence grew. However, the Negy had a strict hierarchical system of elders, and Oskodon's increasing authority was considered by many to be disrespectful to the tradition.

An elder by the name of Sodyf tried to discipline Oskodon and tell him which tribe to attack, so that there's at least an appearance of elder authority. Oskodon took Sodyf with him to the battle, then grabbed the man and, having rotated him above his head several times, thrust at the enemy. Having then led the Negy to defeat the Oaleed, Oskodon returned triumphant. He had his supporters call him "the Negy King". He then entered the elders' chamber and told them to leave in disgrace.

From then on, Oskodon acted as the sole ruler of the Negy. However, many were quietly opposed, and the elders' assembly continued to happen informally.

Conflict with Toor and death

Oskodon's conquests were unstructured and rarely planned. He reacted to rumors of someone from an Oaleed settlement saying something negative about him and would assemble troops to punish the perpetrators of this offense. Most of these escapades took place to the south of Dol.

At some point, Oskodon led his army beyond Dol and attacked the town of Doled, which was considered Toor territory and was under Dolysoh rule. This led Opol Dolysoh to react with a campaign of 1805 FR that lasted for two years. However, Oskodon and his forces were able to not only fight back, but also lay claim to Palas. In a famous battle at Olonoh, Oskodon's army waited for Opol far away from the mountain. This made Opol believe that since there are no mountains or boulders nearby, it is safe to approach. However, the enemy's army suddenly separated into two, revealing that they were stood on an enormous flat stone that Oskodon then hurled at Opol's troops, killing thousands of soldiers and winning the battle.

For the next three years the conflict stalled, but resumed in full force at the end of 1810, this time leading to the displacement of Negy to the south of Dol. By this time discontent with Oskodon's rule reached its critical mass. The Deeras family, supporting the traditional way of life and the elder hierarchy, seceded by entering into an agreement with Opol Dolysoh and founding an independent city state of Deeras that vowed to be friendly with Toor.

Opol then focused on the war with Oskodon and in the next four years Opol's army was able to capture territories just north of the Negal mountain chain, forcing most Negy to fall back. In 1815 a key battle at the Uzar mountain saw both Opol and Oskodon die in action. The battle was won by Toor and remaining Oskodon troops were forced to flee into the Kōnzoh desert, where they most probably perished, as no further records of Oskodon's forces exist.

Legacy

Both Ludoh and Porteek agree that Oskodon's rule ultimately empowered the Oaleed, since his brazen disregard for Toor's military capability led to the Negy being pretty much eviscerated from the Dol-Negal region by 1815. This vacuum gave the Oaleed the opportunity to begin expanding aggressively to the north, and leading to the prolonged conflict with Toor.

It also led the Deeras family to power, although Porteek specifically describes it as a good thing.
