Darda /'dɑrdə/ was a confederation of several countries which existed for a period of 3 centuries between 17th and 20th CSR, and throughout its history held a dominant position in the north central region of the Continent, competing with Yammoe for influence in the Eastern Dantrian civilization.

The confederation was established as a way to defend and expand the New Dawn against the native peoples of the northern regions of the Continent, specifically against the Great Turtle tribes.

Etymology

"Darda" means "hope" in Thonthal, but as the word is properly pronounced by replacing the second d with a glottal stop, the name "Darda" is a play on the word, something that is relatively common in Thonthal, especially when used in names and titles: this allows them to sound different from the words they allude to, while retaining their meaning.
