The Hadeer lived in tribes, but began to form larger groups in the second half of the 18th CFR. Several families competed to be the ruling clan, with the [[Jumpelee-Joleeloh rivalry]] being the most notable one. The Hadeer were eventually united under the flag of the Jumpelee clan and entered their golden age, expanding quickly and building a number of cities and a large fortress at Lake Marood, as well as subjugating Nadd for a short period, before being thrown back by forces from Tirna.
