Map of Heran, 18th CSR

Heran /hɛ'rʌn/ was a name given to much of northern Tarnaria between 10th and 17th CSR, indicating a civilizational recovery from Stogen, specifically referring to the accumulating influence of independent sedentary city-states of Mantar, Or, Ernele, Tonaran and the region of Qep.

Heran was bounded by the Gratfeef river in the east, by the Erna river in the west and by Toyen in the south. Whether to consider Laeooy Coast and Commonground part of Heran is debated, as people from those areas were generally considered to be foreigners in Mantar or Tonaran, but at the same time economically the region was far more united than would appear from the cultural clash.

The usage of the term began to decline after the formation of Mantareia, as the state began to dominate the region. Nevertheless, describing someone as a "Heranian" was still pretty common up to the 2nd CTR. Additionally, the region is sometimes referred to as Heran for convenience purposes when describing the history of Tarnaria. For instance, the early civilizations of Tarnaria - that of Asdoh, Toor and Barud - are sometimes collectively referred to as Heran.
