Laeooy Coast /læ'jʊiː, l'ʊiː/ is a densely populated coast of the Kost Sea. Historically, however, peoples of Laeooy Coast included settlements and kingdoms as deep into the continent as Koalderood.

It is one of the oldest populated areas of the northern Continent. Some of the earliest settlements and cities are located on the coast.

Laeooy Coast was the object of desire of many kingdoms and empires. Kings of Toor tried conquering it for several generations until partially succeeding under Mosk-Sopoh Dolysoh. When the Chaos wars led to the Laeooy Coast becoming an independent region as part of Commonground, Gaskal attempted to reclaim it for centuries.

Throughout history several notable claims were made of "the next gole of the Laeooy Coast". This might have been started by Olboloh Joleeloh, who made up a prophecy of the next gole of the Laeooy Coast in order to convince Meerō Dolysoh to campaign against the Hadeer. The narrative took the form of a prophecy that one day the true gole of the Laeooy Coast would arrive and build a glorious kingdom that would rule the world.

Etymology

Laeooy means "dawn" in Asdoh. The original Asdoh word would normally be transcribed as "luy" and be read as /l'ʊiː/.

History

The history of the Laeooy Coast is divided into several ages: the Age of Dawn, the Age of Struggle, the Age of Rebirth and the Age of Independence.

Preceding the Age of the Dawn are records of the Kmakean Kingdom, mentioned in some of the Leykarian records. Tomash Bumola-Sumola writes of a mysterious Kmakean Kingdom that greeted his ship in Kost Sea during a 1632-1633 FR voyage. The description of the kingdom is minimal and involves mentioning a "generous king and his wife". It is possible that this was an encounter with the Gmorōn kingdom.

It is possible that these were some of the earliest settlements on the Laeooy Coast. Tarnarian sources don't mention any peoples who lived on the Coast before the Dawn pioneers of the 18th CFR, but not many sources have survived.

The Age of Dawn

The Age of Dawn is mostly dominated by the rise of several kingdoms, specifically Gmorōn, Ermoch, Tyrna and later Nadd and Troun.

Ermoch was a Asdohn project to establish a base on the coast, while Gmorōn was a kingdom founded by the Bendezy people. Gmorōn was probably started earlier, but historians typically place both at the 1630s. In 1669 Asdoh, seeing the success and expansion of Gmorōn, pushed Ermoch to start a war against its competitor, betting on a swift win by having the superhero warrior Kros Blodnoh in its ranks. However, Kros was killed very early on in the siege of Gmorōn, which ultimately failed. Ermoch suffered significant losses and withdrew. Gmorōn followed with their own campaign.

The war turned out to be long and bloody, with the fortune switching from one side to the other repeatedly. The conflict lasted until 1692, at which point the city of Gmorōn was finally defeated by Ermoch, albeit at a high cost.

Tyrna was a city of the Gmorōn kingdom until 1692. After the fall of Gmorōn city, the gole made Tyrna the seat of the Gmorōn kings. Ermoch attempted a siege, but its army was battered from the fighting at Grmorōn and was unable to maintain the encirclement. Asdoh began preparing for the continuation of the war against Gmorōn, but Ermoch's ruling family in a sudden power grab proclaimed independence. Asdoh was unprepared for this and began protracted negotiations and supplying Ermoch with resources and troops, to convince them to finish off Tyrna. In a blow to Asdoh, Tyrna and Ermoch signed a peace treaty in 1699 FR.

In 1701 Asdoh began a campaign against Tyrna and Ermoch and the armies met between Frooj and Uzar. Tyrna and Ermoch's forces were defeated, but while Tyrna managed to move their forces out and retreat, Ermoch's army was encircled and completely destroyed.
