The approximate area where Kippie tribes lived in the 17th CSR

Kippies were a nomadic Tarnarian people who lived in Heran during the second revolution.

Etymology

"Kippie" is a type of a short arrow that was widely used in the north of Tarnaria. It became associated with the Kippies due to them adapting it as their main weapon, and they became known by that name. Kippies did not call themselves anything, in spite of having very distinct tribal traditions and seemingly having a strong identity.

Origins

Kippies go back to at least the 4th century of the second revolution and were one of

Beliefs

Kippies held strong Xaewoon Green beliefs and viewed themselves as "people of the path", Trenona - the true followers of Xaewoon. This led to them aggressively punishing those who they believed to be non-believers, as well as rarely accepting outsiders into their tribes. They would seldom attack city states and would usually raid caravans and engage in inter-tribal violence.

Toor of Kievan

The pinnacle of Kippies came during the 17th CSR, when the legendary Kievan united almost all tribes under the flag of Darkan, creating the Toor of Darkan, although it was mostly known as the Toor of Kievan. In the 1690s SR, however, as many negotiators had passed on, newer ties weren't created. Kievan chose not to interfere, despite a plea from Eufyr, Darkan's eldest son. This led to the rise in inter-tribe violence and the dissolution of the toor.

Assimilation

The assimilation of Kippies started almost immediately after the end of the Toor of Kievan. This was partially due to the overall decline of the Mōroh throughout Heran, the growth of Mantar's influence and the eventual formation of Mantareia, which created stronger borders; as well as the break down of the Delavire-Gonne slave trade corridor. The latter was economically important to some of the more southern Kippie tribes, as they used to raid caravans, assist slave traders in their sometimes brutal war on competitors, as well as establish trade relationships with Gonne. The loss of these opportunities led some of the tribes to venture further south, with many making it to Sint and Marann and getting assimilated with the peoples there.

Northern Kippies probably got assimilated with some of the Commonground peoples, but most eventually settled down either in and around Tonaran or in Mantareia, frequently beginning their lives in those countries as mercenaries.
